Trumpet Madness is an old school trad jazz chart for big band. The title is a spin on Sonny Rollins’ classic "Tenor Madness". You’ll need a strong trumpet section for this one, and the band leader will need to know how to deal with disgruntled saxophonists who, for once, are not getting the limelight :)
Although some ad-libbing from the rhythm section will be welcome, they need to be careful not to over-complicate their parts. The bass player needs to resist the temptation to walk except for where indicated (easier said than done!).
