Michael J.D. Roberts

I have been playing music for as long as I can remember, starting on the piano but swiftly moving to the trumpet when I realised I didn't have enough fingers to play all the notes (I was born with one hand). I grew up learning classical trumpet and took up bass guitar in my early teens, playing rock and metal to satisfy my rebellious side.

At university, classical trumpet and rock bass both fused into jazz, somehow, and that's kind of stuck with me ever since (though I still do sometimes tootle out some Haydn or rock out some Muse!).

Throughout this all, I have been composing and writing down whatever came to mind, firstly using manuscript paper, then Cakewalk ScoreWriter and then Sibelius 3, which I use to this day. I'm now a lawyer by trade, but a musician at heart!
